More available power and a standard tire-pressure monitor are among the few 2005 changes to Nissan's 2-seat sports car. The 350Z is available as a hatchback coupe and a convertible. The coupe comes in base, Enthusiast, Performance, Touring, Track, and, for '05, 35th Anniversary Edition models. Nissan calls the convertible the Z Roadster and offers it in Enthusiast and Touring trim. Anniversary models. Those models also come with 18-inch wheels. The 18s are optional on convertibles, which, like base and Enthusiast coupes, come with 17s. The Anniversary Edition model has unique wheels and badges. Torso front side airbags are standard on the Touring convertible, optional otherwise. Head-protecting curtain side airbags are available for coupes. Touring and Anniversary models are available with a navigation system. Track coupes and Anniversary models have Brembo-brand brakes.

In 2005, Nissan added the 35th Anniversary edition. The 2005 35th Anniversary edition and 2005 Track trims have the 300 hp (224 kW) VQ35DE. Note that only the 6-speed manual on the 35th anniversary edition has this much power; the 2005 Track model only comes in the 6-speed manual.

All 2005 350Z models, including the new 35th Anniversary model, receive a standard Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), heated outside mirrors, wider view side mirrors and front seat lifter. Automatic transmission equipped models are now outfitted with downshift rev matching for smoother shifting, and manual transmission models now come with reduced clutch pedal effort for easier operation.

At $36,660, the 35th Anniversary edition ain't exactly cheap, but it ain't no overpriced German Alp cruiser, either. From the outside, only cool five-spoke wheels, a front chin spoiler, and slightly altered fender badges distinguish the Anniversary car from the current Z-car lineup. But under the badges and wheels, Nissan has outfitted the car with the '05 Track edition's more powerful engine and brakes, underbody diffusers, a navigation system, and pretty much everything else that is available for a Z of any flavor.
