2006 Nissan 350Z
Also new for the 2006 350Z is the availability of a factory-fitted satellite navigation system. The DVD-based system features improved processor graphics as recently introduced on the all-new Nissan Pathfinder. The wide screen display can be split to show map settings and realistic visual representations of the road ahead. The Birdview satellite navigation system also includes Traffic Message Channel (TMC) offering alternative routes to beat the jams.
Driven Article - 2003 Nissan 350Z - 07/2002
Inside, the Z has a driver-oriented cockpit. No really. The drivers seat gets an extra bolster on the lower cushion that supports the legs during heel-and-toe downshifting, and all of the gauges, buttons, displays, and controls stop at the center console. The passenger has a broad expanse of empty instrument panel ahead, broken only by the glovebox and a HVAC vent. The door handles, door pulls, gauge surrounds, and gear shift are all either aluminum or trimmed in the material. Unfortunately, the center console isnt the polished metallic structure of the show car, but rather a smooth gray-black expanse of plastic with a door that covers either the optional navigation system or a small storage cubby hole. Regrettably, the doors on the prototypes wobbled as they opened, though Nissan officials insist this will be fixed in time for production. The only other interior feature that didnt impress were the door panels. If anything, the dynamic and aesthetic excellence of the 350Z made the interior shortcomings all the more apparent, but in its Track Model guise also provoked comparisons with the Porsche 911 and Boxster, as well as the Corvette Z06. This is high praise indeed for a vehicle that starts at $26,269, rises to $34,079 for the Track Model, and has just two options, a navigation system and side air bags.
2004 Nissan 350Z, Z Roadster Enthusiast, Touring, VQ35DE - Review ...
A side air bag and curtain air bag package ($569) is optional on the hatchback and a very good idea, as is the supplemental side air bag option ($250) on the Z Roadster Enthusiast. A DVD-based navigation system ($2,000) is available. No sunroof, no T-top is available on the hatchback, so if you like high-performance, top-down motoring, your only choice is the roadster. Nissan says high-performance parts will be available from Nismo, the company's racing division that competes at Le Mans and other sports car venues.
