Research a New Car - 2004 Nissan Armada New Car Test Drive
Handling is impressive as well. The four-wheel independent suspension and rack-and-pinion steering give the Armada a direct and steady feel, whether cruising down the highway, hustling through the hills or parking in a crowded lot. About that name: Initially called the Pathfinder Armada, it's now simply called simply Armada. That's good, but this full-size SUV has absolutely nothing to do with the Nissan Pathfinder, a mid-size SUV. Nissan Pathfinder Armada comes in one size, extra-large. It's available in SE and LE trim, both of which are well-equipped models. Armada comes standard with three rows of seats and all models come with the V8 engine.

2004 Nissan Armada SE 4x4 - The Car Connection
Nissan's spanking new Canton facility is the focal point for a full-size pickup and SUV revolution. Nestled deep behind enemy lines, Nissan is producing the full-size Titan pickup and both the Nissan Armada and Infiniti QX56 full-size SUVs. The optional automatic four-wheel-drive system on the Armada SE combines both ease of use with excellent "crawlability" in 4WD-High and 4WD-Low modes. Otherwise, 2WD is the default choice for the sake of mileage. Four-wheel independent suspension of the sophisticated double-wishbone variety is a real plus, as are the anti-lock disc brakes at each corner. It must be said, however, that this degree of wheel articulation makes its best impressions on irregular, off-road surfaces. While cruising highways or navigating suburban neighborhoods, no amount of racecar suspension can disguise the fact that Armada is a big 5300-pound box of steel on four 18-inch wheels.

Cargo space for all of your boating gear is also ample, even with the third row seating in place. There is 20 cubic feet of space behind the third seats. But if more space for cargo is needed, the Armada really delivers. Nissan seems to have a special skill with engines. The engine in the Armada is called the Endurance V8 and is the largest and most powerful engine ever produced for an SUV by Nissan. It revs freely to its redline without any dramatics. But you may rarely go there as 90 percent of the engine's torque is available at a low 2,500 rpm. Now with all of this performance and off road ability, you may be wondering is the Armada safe? Nissan has wisely chosen to make front and side-curtain airbags standard, and that is for all three rows of seats. There are also seatbelt pretensioners and an active head restraint system for the driver and front passenger.
