If necessity is the mother of invention, then limited interior space is its father. Faced with the dimensional confines of a relatively compact performance machine, Nissan engineers have moved a few items around inside, to optimal effect. Instead of cramming the climate-control system into the same mid-dash space as the radio, for example, engineers have imbedded it into a modular housing directly to the right of the steering column.
Nissan 300ZX Review – Yahoo Cars UK
Of the four Japanese super-coupes introduced at the start of the nineties, the Nissan 300ZX enjoyed the most success in the UK. The Mazda RX-7 was a bit too uncompromising, the Toyota Supra twin-turbo extrovert and the Mitsubishi 3000GT expensive and rather dull. The 300ZX, with its aggressive looks and competitive pricing, was a success from day one, and paved the way for newer and more expensive Nissan models such as the Skyline GT-R. It made paying big money for a Nissan seem a reasonable course of action, something which had never previously been the case. To be able to change perceptions in this manner requires a seriously credible car. The 300ZXs credibility was unquestioned. Nevertheless, expectations were low after its frankly awful pair of predecessors, but the big Nissan confounded most cynics. As a used buy its possible to get a great car, but watch out for rogues.

The V6 has a naturally-aspirated VG30E and turbocharged VG30ET, which was rated at 170 and 230 horsepower respectively.
Sport Compact Car: Enthusiast's Buying Guide: Nissan 300ZX
Despite being out of production for seven years, the twin-turbo Z still looks great, the technology was topnotch and the aftermarket continues to pay homage to the model. Nicely preserved 300ZX Turbos aren't hard to find, and prices have come within reach of most enthusiasts. According to Steve Mitchell, who's worked with Nissan for 15 years, OBDII required the car's computer to not only monitor the fact the variable cam timing had changed, the regulations also required the ECU to monitor the exact position of the camshaft in adjustment range. The cost to update the ECU and add the sensors to the engine was too high for the final year of production. Like any car, there are some things to consider when looking to purchase a fourth-generation 300ZX Turbo. Mitchell recommends looking for one with lower mileage. The difference in price may pay for itself.
