Nissan Motorsport wins Japanese Super GT championship ...
For the third consecutive year, Nissan Motorsport (NISMO) has won the Team Championship title for the Japanese Super GT series. The championship came down to the eighth and final round at Suzuka this weekend, where torrential rain caused the race to be shortened from 52 to 39 laps.

Nissan Japan Releases Fuga Luxury Sports Sedan
The Fuga is the first Nissan model to adopt Nissans Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) system with low-speed following capability. Unlike conventional Adaptive Cruise Control, which only allows for high-speed following mode, ICC automatically switches between high- and low-speed following modes, reducing the drivers workload even in congested traffic.

Nissan's Carlos Ghosn Becomes Unlikely Star of Japanese Comic
The next cartoon panels flash ahead to 1999: Inside Nissan's boardroom, Mr. Ghosn is presenting his plans to rescue the car maker, which is on the brink of collapse after years of losses. He vows to the nervous Japanese managers to return Nissan to profitability by March 2001, or resign. Mamoru Daido, an assemblyman in the city of Oomiya, Kyoto prefecture, saw the management-style debate up close when Nissan cut production at a factory in Kyoto last year. Mr. Daido says most people in his town supported the move despite the pain it caused to local suppliers and contractors. "If Nissan had postponed scaling down the factory, it might have ended up being closed completely," he says.

Companies typically relocate because of ``a major strategic driving reason, and usually a cost element,'' said Mark Sweeney, whose firm, McCallum Sweeney Consulting of Greenville, South Carolina, advised Nissan on the Tennessee move. Nissan's regional base has been in the Los Angeles area since 1958. California and Los Angeles County officials ``crafted a very modest package to keep Nissan from leaving,'' said Jack Kyser, chief economist for the Los Angeles Economic Development Corp.

Nissan Jikoo
A type of Japanese lacquerwork called Edo shikki was used to finish the car's door trim. For this craft expertise Nissan selected Ogawara Urushi Kobo. The first five generations of the Ogawara family plied their craft on the grounds of Edo Castle, creating lacquerware for the Tokugawa government. Keeping the traditions alive is Masaru Ogawara, representing the ninth generation. Their technique results in sharp edges and a mirror-like surface.

For automakers, reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions remains a top priority in developing environmental technologies. While conducting research and development on fuel cell and other clean energy vehicles for future production, Nissan continues to improve the fuel economy of its vehicles for the current market as well. Friction is one of the main causes of energy loss within the engine and lowers its efficiency. Reducing friction improves engine efficiency and enhances the engine's overall fuel economy. Drawing on a finishing technique traditionally used for machining parts of engines in racing cars, Nissan has successfully lowered friction resistance over the past several years by 30 percent compared to previous models. Transmission efficiency is another requirement to be fulfilled in order to achieve optimal fuel economy, and an area in which there remains significant room for improvement. About 95 percent of all vehicles in Japan use automatic transmissions.

Fiat, Nissan get behind whee
Ahead of next week's official announcement, Nissan SA refuses to be drawn on the reasons for a cautionary notice issued to shareholders, but sources believe that Nissan Japan will buy a portion of the stake in Automakers held by Sanlam's investment arm Sankorp.

AutoSpeed - Pre-Owned Performance - Nissan Skyline R33 GTS25T
After the R32 was discontinued in mid-1993, Nissan Japan kicked off the R33 Skyline series. A little larger overall than the R32, this model took on somewhat of a bland profile - but the coupe version scored fancy headlights, sexy 'stove top' tail lights and an integrated rear spoiler.

Nissan Picks Japanese Team to Design, Construct New Global and ...
Locating its headquarters in Yokohama City will allow Nissan closer collaboration with the Nissan Technical Center, the Yokohama and Oppama plants, as well as key suppliers and other operational partners in the region.

Jalopnik - quest
Sorry, thats nasty. Truth be told, the Nissan Quest is a perfectly serviceable vehicle with a lot to recommend it - like the fact that it doesnt share its cohorts angu-blobularity. In particular, the gently ascending beltline and forward-leaning back end give the MPV a rakish profile. The front is a bit stubby, but at least it has the modernity of an Italian toaster. Its appeal probably depends on whether or not you have a fantastically uncomfortable chair in your living room.
