Xanavis Nissan Skyline GT-R
Xanavi and Nismo definitely outdid themselves with this Nissan Skyline. Already a super machine by origin, the added essentials and tuning expertise to compete in the JGTC has made this the Skyline supreme. One cannot fully realize the greatness of this car until one has actually sat on the Mooncraft seat and put the X-TRAC sequential transmission into gear. Because once you hear and feel the six-cylinder roar, witness all the umbrella clinging women smiling at you, and watch the crowd standing on its feet to cheer you on, only then can you call yourself alive.

No, you haven't seen this particular concept before. But you could be forgiven thinking you recognize it, for it does bear a thematic resemblance to the first R35 concept shown in Tokyo way back in 2001, just before the R34 platform went out of production in 2002. Named the GT-R Concept, that car picked up the key GT-R design cues that still exist on the Proto. The Proto, though, shows more refined aerodynamics and is much closer to sharing the design of current Nissan and Infiniti models. The company says the concept gives "a clear indication of the final design direction" for the new model. Shiro Nakamura, senior vice president of design, says this design is 80 to 90 percent of the final shape. The production GT-R is still another two years away, scheduled for introduction at the next Tokyo show in 2007 (the 2008 model year), by which time Nissan will have been beating the drum for its high-performance flagship for six long years. The 2001 concept was shown before the Nissan revival got well and truly under way, back when the company really needed whatever positive buzz it could generate. Nissan had no successor in the works for the R34 (introduced in 1999), but needed to stop building the expensive, limited-edition car while it devoted engineering and design resources to the core business.

The R35 Skyline happens to make use of a new engine postion. Rather than plonking the engine right over the front axle, Nissan opted for an FM (front midship) layout. Essentially, the engine has been mounted just aft of the of the front axle, giving the new Skyline a front-to-rear weight distribution ratio of 52:48 and more linear handling as a result. The fellow behind the new Skyline and Nissan chief designer, Shiro Nakamura, said: "The Skyline has always been a premium sedan," and that's what the marque is keen to push. Nissan wants this car to sit atop the food chain, spitting out Lexus' in its wake.

PRESS RELEASE
Krumm took the first stint at the wheel and fought a good fight from the green light of the 63 lap-race. He quickly moved into third place and then tucked in behind the leader early on in the race as the Nissan pacemaker. Skyline GT-R. The three Nissan drivers drove well, lapping consistently quicker as they worked their way around the track. When second running Osamu Nakako drove his NSX off into the corner gravel, Comas and Suzuki moved into second and third, respectively. Kageyama was forced to pit for fuel in the last stage of the race, and reentered the race in seventh.

The names were brought into line with the Japanese home market with the launch of the FJR30 series in 1981, which was built on a C31 Laurel platform. The FJR30 was available as a four door sedans, a two door coup, a 2800cc deiesel (4 door sedan only), a four door hatchback version and a 4 door wagon version. The Wagon version was the ugly ducking of the range with different lights and no turbo or six cylinder versions available, it more closly resembled a Nissan Sunny than Skyline. All totaled there were 26 variations. All versions with the exception of the wagon were usually fitted with the four round tail lights that had become a regular addition to the skylines desighn. The 2 door version had pillarless doors and the unusual feature of electric roll-down quarter windows for the rear seat passengers. A wagon based on the R33 platform was released in September 1996, called the Stagea. It had a different body style than the R33 and (with the exception of the RS FOUR variant) was only available with an automatic transmission. This is the only four wheel drive manual transmission Nissan with the RB25DET engine. Presumably, a 5 speed 4WD Skyline equipped with an RB25DET would have been too close in performance to the much more expensive GT-R. As a precursor to the introduction of the GT-R in the United States, privateer Igor Sushko has announced plans of racing the R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R N1 in SCCA's SPEED World Challenge Series (GT Class).

Sport Compact Car Magazine: A View of the Skyline
On the other hand, ask the same question of an import enthusiast and you'll probably hear the same answer over and over again-the Nissan Skyline. People around the world marvel at the tremendous potential of this car, given its race heritage and current track records, and it's easy to see why. Most people don't even know why it's such a bad-ass brawler-they simply marvel at the available horsepower and high-tech all-wheel drive and all-wheel steering systems that make quick work of hard launches and sweeping corners. Various manifestations of the Skyline have been improved upon over the years, starting with the first Nissan Skyline in 1955. The ALSI-1 Skylines were available in four-door and station-wagon configurations. Instead, Nissan introduced the S 50-E Series Skylines as a toned-down production car. In coupe or station wagon form, the cars were powered by the new G1 engine, another four-cylinder monster producing 70 hp. The famous circular Skyline taillights saw their first inception in these models, used, ostensibly, to offset the new boxy styling of the exterior. Also in this series, the sportiness of the production Skylines was pushed along as some models were now available with "four on the floor," a four-speed gearbox and sporty bucket-style seats. For the truly sporty, the three-speed column gearbox (that's the one that's attached to the steering wheel) had a single bucket seat for those that really felt the need for speed.

R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R LM vs. Toyota Supra JZA80 - High ...
Possibly the showiest of R33 GT-R Skylines is the LM 'Le Mans' model. Forget about the 400R, there are simply not enough of them around, they're essentially the Nissan equivalent of the unicorn. The LM is where it's at for the best mix of both pace and style within the confines of the R33 chassis. Although mechanically R33 Nissan Skyline GT-R LM Engine identical to the V-Spec upon which it is based, the LM came in lurid colours (only a small collection), with different wheels and a Recaro interior to set it apart.
