SUV: Nissan - King cab makes claim for throne
Nissan has completed its Navara family with the princely King Cab which opened its rear-hinged, rear doors for the first time at last weeks Barcelona Motor Show. It will join the Navara Double Cab (first shown at the Geneva Show in March) in Nissan GBs showrooms in August, their joint aim to make the Navara ruler of the UKs rapidly expanding pick-up market. Designed in tandem with the recently launched Pathfinder and built side-by-side with this Discovery class SUV at Nissans nearby NMISA plant in Barcelona the new Navara brings SUV qualities to the utility market. It shares much of its mechanical layout with the Pathfinder and also adopts many of its technical features. Integrated DVD satellite navigation system and Bluetooth phone connectivity in a pick-up?

2005 Nissan Pathfinder SE 4x4 - Forbes.com
One of the first-and best-of these machines was the Nissan Pathfinder. And, it's now gotten better, even though it's not built on a car chassis (like a lot of SUVs these days), but on a full-fledged truck chassis. The $27,850 Pathfinder SE 4x4-along with all other Pathfinder models-sits on a fully-boxed ladder frame, which it shares with the Armada and Titan. Yet, it doesn't buck and rock like most truck-based SUVs because of its car-like, double-wishbone suspension at both ends, as well as coil-over shocks in front and stabilizer bars in the front and back. All of these features add up to a supremely smooth on-road ride.

New Zealand motoring news on Stuff.co.nz: Pathfinder puts Nissan's ...
Now Pathfinder's been found again, although owners of previous models will discover little to recognise in the new incarnation apart from a funny rear door handle. Like some phoenix, Pathfinder has been reforged in the hot fires of the after-world. It emerges into a new SUV sector defined by vehicles that perhaps took their cues from the first- and second-generation Pathfinders, and refined their on-road performance accordingly. For there's a lot the Discovery and Pathfinder have in common aside from the similar meaning of their names. Most notably they share the same strategy for their body construction, and in each case their exterior designers have been allowed the freedom to create vehicles that are distinctive and muscular. New Pathfinder exhibits macho visual appeal at a time when egg-shaped crossovers such as the Lexus RX330 (and coming Nissan Murano and Subaru Tribeca B9) are pandering to feminine interest. The vault-like visuals are suggestive of the extremely rigid body structure. Like Discovery, Pathfinder places a body strong enough for a monocoque vehicle application atop a separate ladder chassis. In an SUV this brings two advantages: first, the vehicle can take more abuse in off-road driving and then reclaim the road with the wheels still in alignment; second, the chassis rails provide plenty of protection for vulnerable powertrain components when rock-hopping.

2006 Nissan Armada SUV Review - Edmunds.com
However, the one thing the Pathfinder could not escape was the fact that it was a midsize SUV, and in a world where full-size sport-utes rule, Nissan was left with nothing even approaching full-size. That all changed for the 2004 model year with the introduction of the full-size Pathfinder Armada SUV. Doesn't really roll off the tongue, does it? Shortly after introduction, Nissan wisely renamed it Armada. Name shenanigans aside, the Armada is a seriously big and seriously powerful SUV. Inevitably, most consumers will compare the Armada to the Sequoia, as they're the only full-size SUVs from foreign manufacturers. But the new Nissan SUV is bigger in just about every way - more interior space, more horsepower, more ground clearance and more towing capacity. The Nissan Armada is available only as a four-door SUV. There are three trim levels: SE, SE Off-Road and LE. Base SEs come well equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone automatic climate control, three rows of seating, a power driver seat, a tire-pressure monitoring system, power-adjustable pedals, rear parking sensors, rear-seat air conditioning, an eight-speaker stereo with an in-dash CD changer and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The SE Off-Road adds Rancho shocks, a lower final drive ratio, 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, foglights and skid plates. The high-line LE model loses the hard-core off-road equipment but gains upscale items like a power liftgate, heated leather seats, driver-seat memory, a power front passenger seat, second-row bucket seats, and an upgraded 10-speaker Bose audio system. Many of these features are optional on SE and SE Off-Road models. The Nissan Armada comes standard with four-wheel antilock disc brakes, stability control, rear parking sensors and side curtain airbags that protect all three rows of passengers. A vehicle rollover sensor will deploy the side curtain airbags when it senses an imminent rollover accident.
